Settling In

Well, most of the boxes have been unpacked and we are loving our new house, new neighborhood and new town. It really is so beautiful here and the weather is perfect. I love to go jogging a few mornings a week and I've been surprised to see rabbits everywhere. I generally see around 10 each morning. Our last move to Arizona I dealt with crickets in my house and the fear of scorpions and big spiders so it is nice to hear the cicadas that stay in the trees and see the bunnies outside each morning. I understand we do have big spiders, but I haven't come across any yet.

I am so excited to finally post some pictures. Last week we had a great time at the county fair. Macy loved seeing the bunnies and the girls loved petting the animals. Ashley and Lauren loved seeing the lights from all of the rides, but we were finally able to convince them that they wouldn't have much fun on the rides until they were a little bit older. Most of the rides spun around or upside down REALLY fast, and I can just imagine what that would do to two little girls who get car sick if we are in the car for more than 10 minutes.

We had an extra couple of months preparing for our move, but it made for a great summer enjoying more time with family and friends up in Utah.

On the move...

We did it! We have finally moved and are starting to settle in. I had hoped to have some pictures by now to post, but things are still a little crazy - so there will be a lot more to come soon.

The girls are doing really well and liking all their new friends and the new house. Macy is growing so fast and is now walking everywhere. Ashley started preschool everyday down here and she is loving it. And Lauren is loving all her one-on-one time with me. Jer is also doing great and continues to really like his new job. I have to admit I never saw us making a move like this again, but now that we have done it I think this will turn out to be a great move for our family.

All our love to our family and friends we are missing!

Better than the parade - at least for 2 &3 year olds!

Monday morning, before taking off for a fun day at our cabin, Ashley and I saw a commercial for the parade floats on display at the South Town Expo Center. She made up her mind that we were going and continued to remind about it all day long. And at five o'clock as I am driving three very, very tired girls down the canyon,Ashley reminds me that she really wants to go see the parade floats. We went and it was definitely worth it. The girls loved having their faces painted, getting balloon animals, voting on their favorite float, meeting the Days of '47 Queen and eating popcorn while we listened to the band play. I have great memories of the Days of '47 parade, but now I feel like we can wait a few more years before we brave the crowds with the girls.

A Lauren moment

I love the lyrics to the country song Let Them Be Little. It's good to remember that even though there are times I wish my kids would hurry and grow up so they could do more on their own, there are so many more moments I wish they would stay just like they are right now forever. This is one of those moments for Lauren.

Billy Dean, Let Them Be Little

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Happy 4th!

I love the 4th of July! It may be the traditions we have or the fireworks...I don't know, but right up there with Thanksgiving, it is one of my favorites. Hope everyone has a great holiday and remembers what a great country we are blessed to live in.

A happy Macy!
